Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 2026
The short version: NAB collects the minimum data needed to make the app work. We do not sell your data. We do not share it with advertisers. Your financial transactions are stored securely and used for nothing except showing them back to you.
What data we collect
When you create an account, we collect:
- Email address — to identify your account and send important notices (trial expiry, data deletion warnings).
- Display name — shown to other household members within the app.
When you use the app, we store:
- Transactions you enter — amounts, merchant names, categories, dates, and notes.
- Household settings — household name, country, currency, and invite code.
- Categories you create — names, colors, and emoji.
- Recurring transaction templates — the details you set for transactions that repeat.
We do not collect bank account numbers, credit card numbers, government ID, or any financial credentials. NAB never connects to your bank.
How we use your data
We use your data for one purpose: making the app work for you.
- Displaying your transactions and history across your household devices.
- Syncing data in real time between household members.
- Sending transactional emails (trial expiry reminders, data deletion warnings).
We do not use your financial data for advertising, analytics products, machine learning, or any purpose beyond operating the app.
Who we share data with
We share your data with no third parties for commercial purposes. We use the following infrastructure providers to operate the service:
- Supabase — database and authentication. Your data is stored in Supabase's infrastructure. Supabase is SOC 2 Type II certified.
- Cloudflare — web hosting for nabbudget.com. Cloudflare does not have access to your transaction data.
- Apple App Store and Google Play — payment processing for the $4.99 purchase. We receive confirmation of payment but not your card details.
Data retention
Your data is kept as long as your account is active and paid.
- During your 7-day free trial, all data is retained in full.
- After your trial ends, your data remains accessible in read-only mode for 30 days.
- If no payment is received after 30 days in read-only mode, we send a warning email.
- After 60 days in read-only mode (67 days from trial start), your household data is permanently deleted.
- If you are a paying customer, your data is retained indefinitely until you choose to delete your account.
You can export your data at any time using the Export feature in the app before deletion.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- Access your data — export all your transactions as CSV from the app at any time.
- Delete your data — use "Delete account" in Settings to permanently remove all your data immediately.
- Correct your data — edit or delete any transaction or setting within the app.
- Leave your household — use "Leave household" in Settings. Your personal profile is removed from the household. Transactions you entered remain in the household record.
If you are in the European Union, you have additional rights under GDPR including the right to data portability and the right to object to processing. Contact us at the address below to exercise these rights.
Cookies and tracking
NAB does not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking. The app uses a session token stored in your browser to keep you signed in. This token is not used for tracking across other websites.
Children
NAB is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we will notify you by email before the changes take effect. The "last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
