Install NAB on your phone.

We are not in the App Store yet. Think of it less as "not ready" and more as "exclusive." Like a members-only budget app for people who know things.

We know. An installation guide. For an app whose entire personality is being simple. But this is the most work NAB will ever ask of you. Four taps and you are done forever.
1
Open nabbudget.com/app in Safari
Not Chrome. Not Firefox. Not that browser your phone came with that you have never opened on purpose. Safari. It is the only one that supports this on iPhone.
2
Tap the Share button
The little box with an arrow pointing up, at the bottom of the screen. It is how Apple lets you do anything useful.
3
Scroll down, tap Add to Home Screen
It is buried in the share sheet. You might need to scroll. Apple does not make this easy to find, which is probably why you are reading this guide.
4
Tap Add
That is it. NAB is now on your home screen with its own icon. It opens full screen, no browser bars, no distractions. Just your budget.

After installing, always open NAB from your home screen. That is where the magic lives.

1
Open nabbudget.com/app in Chrome
Chrome handles this best on Android. If you are using Samsung Internet or something else, switch to Chrome for the install.
2
Tap the three-dot menu
Top right corner of Chrome. Three vertical dots. The universal symbol for "there are more options hidden behind this tiny button."
3
Tap Add to Home Screen or Install App
Chrome might say either one. Both do the same thing. You might also see an install banner at the bottom of the page. That works too.
4
Tap Install
Done. NAB is on your home screen. Opens full screen, works offline, feels like a real app. Because it is one.

After installing, always open NAB from your home screen. That is where the magic lives.

Mac (Safari)

1
Open nabbudget.com/app/ in Safari
Safari on macOS Sonoma (14+) supports installing web apps directly. If you are on an older Mac, use the Chrome method below instead.
2
Go to File → Add to Dock
In the Safari menu bar at the top of your screen, click File, then click "Add to Dock." It is near the bottom of the File menu.
3
Click Add
Safari asks to confirm. Click Add. NAB appears in your Dock and opens in its own window without browser bars. Just your budget.

Mac (Chrome)

1
Open nabbudget.com/app/ in Chrome
If you prefer Chrome or are on macOS Ventura or earlier, use this method. Both Chrome and Safari work on modern Macs.
2
Click the install icon in the address bar
On the right side of the address bar, look for a small icon that looks like a computer with a down arrow. Click it.
3
Click Install
A prompt asks if you want to install NAB. Click Install. It opens in its own window, no browser bars, pinned to your dock.

Windows (Chrome)

1
Open nabbudget.com/app in Chrome
Open it in Chrome. Edge works too, but Chrome is the most reliable for this.
2
Click the three-dot menu
Top right corner of Chrome. Three vertical dots. The same menu you have been ignoring since 2015.
3
Click Install NAB
You will see "Install NAB" or "Install app" in the menu. Click it, then click Install in the confirmation dialog.
4
Find it in your taskbar
NAB is now pinned to your taskbar. Opens in its own window, full screen, no browser chrome. Just your budget.

On desktop, NAB works best as an installed app. But you can also just use it in the browser tab. We will not judge.

That is it. Seriously.

NAB is installed. Now go enter your code and start tracking.
